Christian Sharps got his start in the gun making business by working at the Harpers Ferry Arsenal. The first Sharps firearm was patented in 1848. By 1850 the first models of Sharps Sporting Rifles were being produced. In 1855 a new Sharps Rifle Manufacturing Company was formed in Hartford, Connecticut. Production continued in Hartford until 1876 when operations were moved to Bridgeport Connecticut until 1880. |

| 1874 Sharps Sporting Standard |

Among the Sharps 1874 models you can find the Sporting model with octagonal blued barrel, adjustable front sight and double set trigger. The Infantry and Cavalry models have a fixed front sight and round barrel retained by steel bands. Infantry model has a patch box in the stock while the Sniper model is equipped with double set trigger. All the models are equipped with graduated rear sight with sliding plate and are drilled and tapped to mount a Creedmoor sight. The Sporting model can be completed with tunnel front sight with interchangeable inserts. |

In the name of the young and famous scout, who hit a Kiowa warrior at 1538 yards, shooting with his Sharps Sporting on June 27, 1874 at Adobe Walls, Texas. Billy Dixon and 27 buffalo hunters were surrounded by more than 500 Kiowa and Comanche warriors, spurred by their “medicine man” who convinced them they were invulnerable at the “white” shots. Produced with octagonal conical barrel, choice walnut wood for stock and forearm with German silver cap, checkered and oil finished following the old system used for valued guns. |

| 1874 Sharps Long Range Rifle |

Accurate reproduction of the rifle Sharps Long Range model made in December of 1876, converting rifles with 32" (813 mm) barrels length to 34" (864 mm). At the beginning it was produced with single trigger, only in February of 1879 some hundred pieces have been made with double set trigger. Stock and forend are made of selected walnut, checkered. The stock of civil type with pistol grip and cheek piece enables the shooting stability. The forend is completed with a German silver cap. |
