Founded in 1973, the NRA Whittington Center is truly America's one stop world class outdoor recreation destination.  Nestled in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, its natural beauty and wealth of history make the Whittington Center an exciting vacation spot.  Easily accessible from I-25, the Whittington Center is located 10 miles south of Raton on Highway 64.

The Center boasts a variety of shooting ranges, including ranges for smallbore rifle, high power rifle, black powder, trap, skeet, sporting clays, hunter sight-in, PPC, smallbore rifle silhouette, highpower rifle silhouette, long range pistol silhouette, hunter pistol silhouette, benchrest, and practical pistol.

Encompassing 33,300 acres ranging from 6,300 to 8,100 feet in elevation, Center visitors experience breathtaking views, outstanding climate, hospitality and an array of family activities such as hiking, bird watching, wildlife viewing, and camping.

A broad range of housing is available to accommodate individuals, couples, and small to large groups.  Lodging options include modern housing, rustic cabins, back country cabins, campgrounds with RV hookups and primitive camping.
